2002 Black
Australian Stock Horse Stallion
15.1hh, Reg: 160318
Bred by Mr Phillip Roberts, of
Toowoomba in Queensland, Cadabra is a stunning example of the Australian
Stock Horse type. Trained, and now owned, by Maryanne Gough, Cadabra
is completely bred 'in the purple'.
His sire, Palmers Fort Abdul, who sadly passed
away in October 2005, was a 'sire of sires' and winner of multiple
ASH events whilst also being a competitive Open campdrafter. His
sire, the great Abdul, was by Abbey from Comara Princess, a great
campdrafter who also won the Warwick Gold Cup.
Fort Abduls dam is the prolific producer, Palmers
Sissy, who mothered the stallion, Better View Gunfire, sire of a
Cloncurry Challenge winner and a Warwick Gold Cup winner
Cadabra's dam is the outstanding campdraft mare,
Star Caddie. Owned by Mr Phillip Roberts, and campaigned by the
renowned riders of great campdrafters, the Hall family from Goondiwindi,
Star Caddie has a performance record to challenge most stallions,
let alone broodmares!
Perhaps her most outstanding achievement, however, was placing second
from a field of hundreds in the 2000 Warwick Gold Cup. She is sired
by the great Star Black Minstril from Mills Stud Caddie, by Elliotts
Creek Cadet.
With a family like this, you would wonder how the
resulting progeny could not be a champion, right? Right! At only
3yrs of age, Cadabra is definitely following in the hoofprints of
his parents, accummulating an impressive list of Champions and Reserve
Champions in Led and Working ASH classes. In 2005, Cadabra was awarded
the South Queensland Management Council High Point 2yo ASH Futurity
Horse from his consistent performances over six futurities throughout
the year.
2006 started with a bang, when, at his first show
for the year, the Queensland State Championships at Woodford, Cadabra
took home the rug and sash for Champion Junior Working ASH after
winning the Working ASH Colt 2-3yrs. His winning streak continued
with a blue in the Led Colt 3yrs and the subsequent award of Reserve
Champion Led Stallion.
Cadabra will begin campdrafting in 2007 and is
currently being prepared for the major Northern Challenges that
will be held the same year. His preparatory training is reavealing
a very cowy horse, with natural flying changes and a definite ability
to ride difficult patterns - be it an ASH Working class or a Challenge
Reining pattern. He is definitely a 'cool' horse who you can drop
the reins and walk on after the fastest workout. His gentle disposition
enables him to be tied or ridden near a mare or stallion with no
fuss.
But don't take my word for it! Make an appointment
today to come view Cadabra for yourself and see what all the fuss
is about!
